Contractor Website Inquiry Checklist

Follow one realistic customer journey from a service page to the person who responds. Check the route on a phone as well as a desktop.

Before the form

  • Can a visitor identify the relevant service without guessing?
  • Is the service area accurate and easy to find?
  • Are project photos and claims supported by permission and evidence?
  • Does the phone link dial the correct number?

Inside the form

  • Label each field; do not rely only on placeholders.
  • Ask for a name, reply method and short job description.
  • Mark optional fields clearly and explain required-field errors.
  • Keep keyboard focus visible and controls usable on a small screen.
  • Explain how the business will use the inquiry details.

After submission

Confirm the recipient before testing. Send one clearly labeled test with no real customer data, then check the receiving system and inbox. Confirm the success screen and reply path; an HTTP success response alone does not prove inbox delivery.

Also test a service failure in a controlled environment. The visitor should receive a useful recovery path, such as a direct phone or email link, without a false success message.
